Dr Ikalafeng Ben Kgakatsi specialises in Meteorology, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management. He holds Phd in Environment from the University of Witswatertsrand in South Africa, Master Degree in Meteorology from the University of Witswatersrand in South Africa and Bsc degree in Meteorology from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Dr Kgakatsi is currently responsible for climate change and disaster risk management in the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. He also occupied different technical and managerial positions in the former South African Weather Bureau (currently South African Weather Services) including weather and seasonal climate forecast. Dr Kgakatsi is a member of risk reduction and climate change teams in South Africa. He recently published paper in the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction: The contribution of seasonal climate forecasts to the management of agricultural disaster-risk in South Africa.
