Industry leader Lynn Chamier moves to dmg events
Events industry veteran Lynn Chamier has been appointed as the new Event Director at leading events organiser dmg events, presenter of the upcoming Africa Trade Week
Chamier, with a 33-year background working in every aspect of exhibitions, will take over the role of Event Director for Food, Hospitality and Trade in South Africa, as dmg events expands a number of its flagship events and gets set to launch Africa Trade Week 2019.
Chamier has worked in a senior management and Director capacity across event management, marketing, services and logistics for companies such as Fairs and Exhibitions, Times Media, Exhibitions for Africa, Reed Exhibitions and Specialised Exhibitions, helping produce high-profile events such as Hardex and Markex, Woodex for Africa, Computer Faire, Securex, and – for 25 years – Hostex.
Chamier, who has won numerous industry awards including Best Organiser, Best Show and Best Employee, has also travelled extensively to exhibitions around the world, leading delegations to foreign events and served on the board of EXSA for two years as the Organisers Chairperson.
“As organisers we constantly need to change and develop our events to create stronger and more compelling offerings for our clients,” said Devi Paulsen, VP South Africa for dmg events. “Lynn’s experience and her passion for exhibitions are a great addition to our team and will drive the development of our events across the Food, Hospitality and Trade portfolio.”
“I am very excited to join a prestigious, international company like dmg events, and am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead to grow the existing brands and to develop new ideas and features. I am very passionate about exhibitions, with my personal favourites being in the hospitality, catering and marketing sectors,” says Chamier. “Therefore, I’m particularly excited about one of the first major events I will oversee in my new role – Africa Trade Week 2019.”
“I will certainly be using the experience and knowledge that I have gained over the last 33 years in the exhibition industry to help develop new marketing strategies to reach more potential visitors,” Chamier says. “As organisers we constantly need to change and develop our events to make them more interesting and a better offering to our clients. We have had a productive busy start to the year which bodes well for the delivery of an improved and larger event with a quality audience.”
At Africa Trade Week, Chamier says dmg events is planning to stage a host of new features and highlights, with a number of activations designed to ensure a better interactive experience for visitors.
Africa Trade Week, to be held from 23rd – 25th June 2019, at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg, is the new platform for continental trade across the retail, hospitality, food and beverage and wholesale sectors. Hosted by dmg events, Africa Trade Week 2019 will incorporate three leading exhibitions – The Hotel Show Africa, Africa’s Big 7 and SAITEX, as well as their associated conferences and workshops. Africa Trade Week will bring together over 10,000 international industry professionals from 53 countries and over 500 exhibitors from more than 40 countries for three days of business negotiations, networking and knowledge-sharing.
Now in its third year, The Hotel Show has become Africa’s leading event for the hospitality industry, attracting GMs, owners, operators, procurement managers, designers, developers and the all-important frontline hospitality personnel to discover the latest products, ideas and trends shaping the industry’s future. Running alongside The Hotel Show, the Hospitality Leadership Forum will see over 90 expert speakers will take to the stage to address burning issues, trends and opportunities in the sector.
SAITEX, which has served as the key annual product sourcing opportunity for the entire continent’s retail and trade industry for over 25 years, now incorporates the two-day The Trade Development Forum, which serves as a platform for high-level intra-Africa trade discussions.
Africa’s Big 7 The only food and beverage trade show in Africa to bring together thousands of stakeholders, suppliers and buyers under one roof to boost pan-African trade, is the annual meeting place for food professionals across the continent who visit to source, meet and gain insight into the very latest developments affecting the industry. This exciting b2b food event connects the startups, food innovators, foodtech businesses, investors and partners who are redefining the food industry from farm-to-fork.
“Africa Trade Week is an exciting platform to bring together stakeholders from across the entire retail, food and hospitality ecosystem, and looks set to be the new landmark multi-sectoral trade event for Africa,” says Chamier. “Exhibition space is selling out fast, and we urge organisations wanting to participate to reserve their space now.”
In addition to Africa Trade Week, dmg events South Africa also presents a range of leading trade events, including African Construction Expo, Totally Concrete Expo, Pumps, Valves and Pipes Africa, Cape Construction Expo, KZN Construction Expo, African Ports and Rail Evolution, West African Ports and Rail Evolution, Concrete Trends and Concrete.TV.
